Archiving Policy
The Lafia Journal of Scientific and Industrial Research (LJSIR) is committed to ensuring the long-term preservation, accessibility, and reliability of the scholarly materials it publishes. The journal recognises the importance of maintaining a secure and enduring scholarly record that remains accessible to researchers, institutions, and the wider academic community over time. In line with this commitment, published articles may be archived, indexed, reproduced, distributed, and disseminated electronically through recognised scholarly databases, repositories, and preservation systems.
To strengthen digital preservation and ensure continued availability of published content, LJSIR supports recognised archiving and preservation initiatives integrated within the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform. These include LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe), CLOCKSS (Controlled LOCKSS), and the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN). These preservation mechanisms are widely recognised within scholarly publishing for safeguarding journal content against data loss, system failure, or technological obsolescence.
Through distributed preservation technology, LOCKSS enables participating libraries and institutions to maintain secure copies of journal content across multiple archival locations. CLOCKSS complements this approach by preserving scholarly materials within a community-governed dark archive system designed to guarantee permanent access in the event that content becomes unavailable from the original source. In addition, the PKP Preservation Network provides dedicated preservation support for eligible journals operating on the OJS platform, helping ensure sustainable long-term access to published research outputs.
Where these preservation services are properly configured and operational, they provide an additional layer of security for the journal’s digital content and contribute to the durability and continuity of the scholarly record.
LJSIR also maintains the integrity of its published archive through established procedures for corrections, errata, expressions of concern, and retractions. Where errors, inaccuracies, or ethical concerns are identified after publication, the journal may issue formal notices linked directly to the original article in order to preserve transparency, accountability, and accuracy within the archival record.
Through these preservation and archival practices, LJSIR seeks not only to guarantee continued access to scholarly content but also to uphold the authenticity, reliability, and permanence of the scientific record for future generations of researchers and readers.
