Author's Guidelines
The Lafia Journal of Scientific and Industrial Research (LJSIR) is a peer-reviewed international journal published by the Faculty of Science, Federal University of Lafia. The journal publishes original and high-quality research articles twice yearly (April and October) in the fields of agriculture, science, engineering, and technology. LJSIR promotes multidisciplinary research with emphasis on innovative studies that address contemporary scientific and societal challenges.
Manuscript Submission Policy
Submission of a manuscript to LJSIR implies that:
- The work is original and has not been published previously.
- The manuscript is not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
- All authors have approved the submission and consented to publication.
- Ethical standards relevant to the research have been observed.
All manuscripts must be written in clear English using spelling consistent with the Oxford Dictionary.
The journal accepts the following categories of manuscripts:
- Full-length Research Articles
- Short Communications
- Review Articles
Manuscripts should be submitted through the journal’s online submission portal.
Manuscript Preparation Guidelines
General Formatting
Authors should prepare manuscripts using the following format:
- Paper size: A4
- Font: Times New Roman
- Font size: 12 pt
- Line spacing: Double spacing
- Margins: 2.54 cm on all sides
- Language: English
All pages should be numbered consecutively.
Structure of the Manuscript
Manuscripts should be arranged in the following order:
Title
The title should be concise, informative, and accurately reflect the content of the manuscript. It should not exceed 20 words.
Running Title
Provide a short running title not exceeding 12 words.
Authors’ Names and Affiliations
Provide:
- Full names of all authors
- Institutional affiliations
- Corresponding author’s email address and telephone number
The corresponding author should be clearly identified.
Abstract
The abstract should not exceed 250 words and must briefly describe:
- The research problem
- Objectives of the study
- Methodology
- Key findings
- Major conclusions
Undefined abbreviations and references should not be included in the abstract.
Keywords
Provide 4–6 keywords arranged alphabetically for indexing purposes.
Introduction
The introduction should:
- Clearly define the research problem
- Explain the significance of the study
- Review relevant literature
- State the objectives of the work
The relationship between the present study and previous studies should be clearly established.
Materials and Methods
This section should provide sufficient detail to allow replication of the study. Previously published methods should be properly cited, while significant modifications should be clearly described.
Statistical methods used in the analysis should also be stated.
Results and Discussion
Results and discussion should be presented together.
Authors should:
- Present original and significant findings clearly
- Use tables and figures only where necessary
- Interpret findings in relation to previous studies
- Avoid repetition of data already presented in tables or figures
The discussion should emphasize the scientific significance and implications of the findings.
Conclusion
The conclusion should summarize the major findings of the study and highlight their significance, possible applications, and future research directions.
Acknowledgements
Acknowledgements should be brief and should recognize technical assistance, financial support, or other contributions.
Conflict of Interest
Authors must declare any financial or personal relationships that could influence the work reported in the manuscript.
References
Citation in the Text
References should be cited using numbers in square brackets.
Examples:
- Obesity and overnutrition further stress the fragile healthcare system [4].
- This result was later contradicted by Aremu et al. [8].
- The theory has been widely accepted [2–5, 10].
Reference List
Only references cited in the text should appear in the reference list. References should be numbered consecutively in the order in which they appear in the manuscript.
Authors are strongly encouraged to include DOI links where available.

Tables
Tables should:
- Be numbered consecutively using Arabic numerals
- Have concise descriptive titles placed above the table
- Use only three horizontal rules
- Appear inline within the manuscript
Figures
Figures, graphs, photographs, and illustrations should:
- Be numbered consecutively using Arabic numerals
- Have clear captions
- Be of high quality and readable
- Appear inline within the manuscript
Graphs should be prepared using appropriate software and should not duplicate information already presented in tables.
Symbols and Units
Symbols, units, and nomenclature should conform to the recommendations of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC).
SI units should be used throughout the manuscript.
Copyright Policy
Submission of a manuscript to LJSIR implies that, upon acceptance, copyright is transferred to the publisher. Accepted articles become the permanent property of the journal and may not be reproduced in any form without written permission from the Editor-in-Chief.
