Generative AI Policy

The Lafia Journal of Scientific and Industrial Research (LJSIR) is committed to originality, scholarly accountability, transparency, and responsible research practice. In keeping with these standards, the journal does not allow Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) tools to be used in producing, interpreting, analysing, or developing the substantive academic content of a manuscript.

Authors remain fully accountable for the originality, accuracy, reasoning, citations, interpretations, findings, and conclusions contained in their submissions. Every manuscript submitted to LJSIR must represent the genuine intellectual work and scholarly judgement of the author(s), rather than content generated by artificial intelligence.

GenAI tools may be used only for limited, non-substantive editorial assistance, such as improving grammar, correcting spelling, refining language, or supporting formatting, provided that such use does not change the intellectual substance of the work. Any such assistance must not introduce fabricated information, false references, inaccurate claims, distorted interpretations, or misleading statements.

The following uses are strictly prohibited:

  • Using GenAI tools to draft, rewrite, or substantially develop any part of a manuscript
  • Using GenAI tools to generate literature reviews, data analysis, discussions, results, interpretations, or conclusions
  • Using GenAI tools to create, alter, manipulate, or misrepresent data, images, figures, or research findings
  • Using GenAI tools to produce fictitious references, unreliable citations, unverifiable claims, or inaccurate scholarly content
  • Naming or listing any AI tool as an author or co-author

Where an AI-assisted tool has been used only for minor editorial support, authors may be required to disclose this during submission. Such disclosure does not reduce or transfer the author’s responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of the entire manuscript.

Editors and reviewers must not upload confidential manuscripts, peer-review materials, unpublished data, or any privileged editorial information into public GenAI platforms or tools that may compromise confidentiality, copyright, privacy, or data security.

LJSIR reserves the right to assess submissions for possible AI-generated content or inappropriate AI use. Where the use of GenAI is found to be inconsistent with this policy, the manuscript may be rejected, returned to the author for clarification, or subjected to further editorial action.
